Matthew started at the very young age of 12 working in the gardens of his house and neighbors’ homes in upstate New York. At the age of 16, Matt took his artistic abilities and hard work ethic and started his first company, “Showcase Landscaping INC.” While in high school, Matthew was elected and received a Scholarship from the Orchard Park Garden Club for his accomplishments within his company.
In the Fall of 2005, he decided to move to Florida with the intention to soon open a new company there, where he could design and landscape year-round. After spending a few years as a Site Supervisor for Habitat for Humanity and working at a local Garden Center he become very familiar with Florida plants and concepts. It wasn’t long before Matthew began what is now Lombardo Landscaping & Water Features, Inc.
Along with his Bachelors Degree in Business from FGCU and being a Certified Florida Residential Contractor (#CRC1331542), Matthew has created hundreds of landscape designs and outdoor living areas here in Southwest Florida. His passion and love for what he does, along with his years of experience continues to impress and surpass the expectations of his clients here in Florida.
Matthew has traveled to different parts of the world to gather ideas and concepts. While in Italy, Matt studied and focused on Mediterranean and Tuscan landscape designs. In South America, Matthew has visited and gathered ideas from areas such as Ecuador and the Caribbean Islands. Hiking through parts of the Adirondack Mountains, New York Catskills, and the desert Mountains in Phoenix, Arizona, has also helped shape the way in which Matthew designs. Matt’s broad education and experience of landscapes and designs in Europe, South America and North America, along with his Italian roots, are what feeds his ideas and creativity for incorporating the beauty of nature into Florida landscapes.
